An easy procedure to meet your family planning goals.
Vasectomy is a minor surgical procedure intended to lead to permanent, irreversible contraception for males. During this procedure, a small incision is made in the scrotum. Next, the vas deferens, the tube that sperm travels through, is divided and secured. This will prevent the sperm you make from getting into your semen and leaving your body. Once it is confirmed that a vasectomy is successful, your semen will no longer contain sperm.
While vasectomy is an extremely safe and common procedure, choosing to have a vasectomy is still a big personal decision because it is permanent. The information on this website provides general information about the procedure and the process at Lakeshore Vasectomy, but it does not replace an individualized consultation with Dr. Turner. If, after your consultation you are not ready to schedule a vasectomy, that is not a problem.
To help prepare you for your appointment, please ensure you review the information below, which includes instructions on how to prepare for your vasectomy and how to monitor your healing afterward.

Meet Dr. Devon Turner
“After completing my medical school and residency with the University of Toronto in 2013, I have been practicing medicine in Barrie, Ontario. The majority of the work I do involves my family practice, and I am proud to work with my colleagues at Lakeshore Family Medicine. I also provide hospital care for my patients and newborns at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, where I am currently Chief of Family Medicine. Outside of clinical care, I am a supervising faculty member at the Family Medicine Teaching Unit at RVH, and am also an Investigating Coroner with the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario. Working in Barrie is incredibly satisfying; I am privileged to provide care for this community and to work alongside such incredible people.
My interests outside of medicine include spending time with my family and dogs, exploring Simcoe County, and staying active through swimming, running, biking and Crossfit. I know a lot of ways to heal people but I still think laughter is a pretty good medicine too.
A big part of the practice of medicine involves the relationship between you and the physician with whom you are consulting. I look forward to meeting you; I trust that my staff and I will make your vasectomy a comfortable process.”
